Swedish massage uses light to medium pressure and consists of a specific set of massage movements. Effleurage (sliding movements), petrissage (kneading movements) , friction (rubbing), vibration and percussion are all used to relieve muscle tension and reduce muscle pain whilst calming the mind and body. It also includes passive and active joint movements (stretching and bending joints) with the assistance of the massage therapist.
