Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that can be used to create shape, definition and to give hydration to the lips. Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance present in the skin that when used as a filler, is low-risk and well-accepted by the body. Using hyaluronic acid means that the filler can easily be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if something goes wrong during the lip filler treatment. Fillers may last anywhere between 6-18 months. However this depends on the product used, how quickly your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid substance, age, lifestyle and skin structure.
