During this exciting developmental period, your toddler is gaining independence and exploring the world with newfound mobility. They're likely walking independently and perhaps climbing on furniture or stairs. Their fine motor skills are advancing as they can now stack blocks, turn pages, and feed themselves with increasing dexterity.

Your child's communication abilities are expanding rapidly. They understand many more words than they can say and may follow simple instructions. Most toddlers begin using 5-20 meaningful words and communicate through a combination of gestures, sounds, and simple words.

Cognitively, they're developing object permanence and beginning to engage in simple problem-solving activities. They enjoy imitative play and may pretend to feed a doll or talk on a toy phone.

Socially, they're becoming more aware of others but mainly engage in parallel play alongside peers rather than interactive play. They may show affection through hugs and kisses while also demonstrating increasing independence.
